i have a kill switch thats normally closed will that work on a dale how dose it get wired in

i just rebuilt this thing 6months ago. I was riding the other weekend hit a small ramp it started smoking lost power and died turns out the sleeve is cracked. Dose anyone have any idea why that would happen?
