I had fun getting the balancer shaft needle-roller out myself. It was bottomed out in the case and I couldn't get a grip on it. In the end I turned a piece of steel and threaded it internally and JB welded it inside the bearing. Put a bolt through a socket and drew it straight out - easy.

I got a motor needing a crank, piston and sleeve in swap for some bodywork I had spare recently and when I took it apart I noticed the the decomp pin itself has been catching on the head casting. Just wondered if anyone else has had this before......?

I'd be tempted to crank it over with the sparkplug out and a pluglead pushed carefully up the coil going to a plug. Disconnect the fuel pump wire and put a timing light on the pluglead and you should then be able to see:- <br />1; that the spark is strong ( with insulated pliers hold the plug aw...
