35 microns is bigger than I'd like to see floating around in a motor. I'll stick with paper thank you. But, yes it does sound like a crank problem, either the main bearing or the rod bearing.

I haven't seen even one sensor go bad, but they can all be checked with the service manual and a multimeter.

that is the advantage, no replacement for displacement. really though it is more torque than anything else.

I agree that $600 sounds like alot of money, but when you start thinking about how the crank is designed, the amount of time that went in to just figuring out a way to get the crank apart without damaging it, the cost of custom rods, the time finding a suitable rod bearing, the repairing of the rod ...
