If it's black it's most likely a mag cover powdercoated. I have two of those on my shelf and neither have any corrosion, though I'd trust aluminum a whole lot more. The aluminum one is heavier than mag and easy to tell the difference looking at the two.<br /><br />Not to steal the thread...

Make sure the starter clutch was assembled correctly. I bought one engine that had it put together wrong and it just spun. Quick fix though. Track is in Anza, CA on Cahuilla Creek Indian Reservation. About 50% sand so robs power pretty bad but the 467 engine can clear everything on the track.
