The bearing race has fretted. It is a common issue of a worn bearing. Riding in sand does accelerate the wear. Yes, I would replace both bearings. I would also replace the starter one way bearing while you are in there for cheap insurance.

I would go after the piece with a big easy out and a socket and ratchet. If you didn't tighten it too tight, should come out fairly easy. Since there is only metal left on the threaded part, whack it a few times with a hammer to set the easy out and try to back it out.

Fuel line goes from the tank to the bottom of the fuel pump. From there it goes out the top of the fuel pump thru the injectors and down to the regulator. Then lastly from the regulator to the return side of the fuel tank. The fuel line from the injectors goes to the rear most port on the regulator....
