Thanks for saying hi! The R was working great, but the desert trips got too expensive at $600 per trip... We sold all the quads, and bought trail dirtbikes. We now ride every weekend for less than $20 per trip depending on whether we buy beef jerky on the way out. <img src="style_emoti...

Yeah... you can go soak your head. Everyone likes to drive people away around here. There are about 5 people who know everything about Dales, and they won't tell anyone else. If someone had actually told me about the checkball prior to this I wouldn't have mentioned any of this. Of course it...

So, the fact that we talked to the designer of the harness means nothing Happy? Scooter knew exactly what the relay did (2 minute timeout for downloading pro-tweaked maps after an R&D riding session, which Boomer is also aware of), the circuit used in conjunction with the relay, and the pitfalls...

Yeah.... well, like I said, I talked to Scooter about it. No one else has. Everyone else likes to speculate about the relay, instead we talked to the guy who invented the circuitry. Then we tested his theory. It was off a bit. No overheat.

Hey, I know! Everyone keep your relays in, th...

We have had quite a few failures. We once had at lleast 5 fail on the same trip tto Sand Mt. The Dales were sitting in a line idling rough, and we walked downed the line pulling the relays, and each one returned to normal as the relay was pulled. It took us quite a while to figure that out. Usually ...

The relays are dumb, there is no rhyme or reason as to why a mechanical relay starts to fail. There are moving parts in there, and they fail whenever the tolerances get too loose.

If I am wrong then his keyswitch will melt. If his keyswitch melts from my advice I will help him out by payi...

It's not a short, it is the use of a crappy relay. Scooter specifically explained what the relay does, and mentioned the overheat condition being the ONLY reason you cannot remove it. Basically he said that in theory the switch would get hot. He did not give me any indication that this theory wa...
