Pingel for FX400

#1 Post by JST »

Has anyone hooked up the pingel to a FX400 or early Cannibal? I did not know if the wires were the same from the 500 to the 1000 system.Which wire goes to what?I would like to keep the factory red kill button if possible,if not ,how do the wires colors match up from the factory button to the Pingel?Ihope this makes sense,I have 2 bikes to put them on.

I can't remember what color the wire is, but I'd just use the hot wire from the kill switch. Just disconnect the bullet connectors and connect them to the 2 wires of the Pingel. Then test it out. Just trial and error until it works.

I'm afraid of trying something then the error be frying my computer. Are you saying that if I hook it up wrong that it won't fry the computer, and all I will have to do is try the other wire for the stop button?

You can put it between either the purple wire or the green wire.

O.K.,now what?Icut the factory red kill button off and spliced the pingel into the two wires,Ihooked the blue pingel to the purple quad wire and the red pingel to the yellow redstripe wire on the quad and the thing still runs when I pull the tether.I have reversed the wires and still runs that way too.Should I have left the factory kill on the quad and spliced the pingel into only one of the wires?HELP ****** I'M CONFUSED!!!!!!thanks for the help in advance.

I'm assuming you don't want the factory switch anymore. All you would do is take the two wires that ran to that switch(in the quad harness) and plug the pingle into them. According to the diagram, the wires to the OFF/RUN switch are black and brown. You shouldn't be connecting to a red/white wire. These are simple bullet connectors- unplug one, plug the other in. There shouldn't be any actual "splicing" of wires.
If you wanted to keep the OFF/RUN switch, you could just hook the Pingle in line in either the brown or green wires as Wyndzer said. If you plug into the green wire, it'll kill the power before it hits the key switch. If you plug into the brown, it'll kill the power after the key switch. Either way will work fine- I chose green.
If that doesn't make sense ask another question.

JST, use only one wire from the quad and hook the pingle wires to it. Don't use two different colored wires from the quad.
