Please chime in if I mess this up guys.

You can pull the cover off the right side of the motor, thats the stator cover. Just take a look at the wires going up the left side of the stator. They go through a clip. The wires should all be shielded all of the way up past the clip. If they are not shielded past the clip then you need to yank the flywheel and add the shielding if necessary.

i took the battery out and charged it for 24hrs and i will try hooking something up tell whats happening with the battery...i didnt get the new battery yet. If i charge the battery while its connected to the quad will it hurt anything ?

im no battery expert. but i dont see why it would harm anything.

You will not harm the battery, or the ECU if you leave the battery hooked up to the ATV.
