Cannondaleriders

I went to purchase some gray sides and red rears last week and this guy had some almost clear side panels,kinda like the same color as a milk jug,no color at all.What are these pcs. and why were they made w/o color?I had to buy 'em,hope I didn't pay too much.

If I remember correctly we had some milk jug looking plastic made when testing different types of plastic. We actually went through 5 or 6 different compounds because of the stuff either cracking in the cold or sagging too much with a lot of mud on the fenders.
