Is this crack enough to make this carrier a paperweight?

Yes, unless someone can weld it. But for what you can buy a used one for or a new one it wouldn't be worth it.

I have a couple extra brand new ones I will sell at cost to get you going .

Thanks for the offer, but I already had a spare, so I should be fine. Do you think I should throw it away?

If its in the seal bore then I might just silicone the crack and run it but if its in the bearing bore then toss it. There is a lot of stress on the bearings and it will come apart.

Its into the where the first bearing sits, so I'll toss it. I thought I'd experiment with heat and see how long it took to make the bearings fall out on their own. It didn't take long at all. From now on, I'm definately going to heat the carriers up to get the bearings out.
