Just wondering if I can remove the side cover without removing the motor from the quad.
seems like removing cradle, and throttle body would allow me to swing the motor down on the swing arm pivot far enough to pull the side cover. I imaging I'd have to also remove the muffler, shock and radiator hoses.

is it doable? or is it simpler just to pull the motor?

Pretty much no. You can lower the engine a few inches and do it, but by then you are about 1 minute away from the engine being on the bench...

Major oversight from Cannondale unfortunately. There was a 2 piece sidecover in the concept photos, but the covers were failing due to lack of strength. Turns out the sidecover is a major structural member of the engine case.
