hey whats up, i have a 2002 cannibal,the starter turns but will not engage the motor.can i rebuild the starter or?...thanks..everyone..scott...

If the starter is turning but not engaging the engine then it's most likely the one way bearing inside the case. Make sure the starter is indeed turning by pulling it off and then seeing if the starter spins. Then where the starter goes into the case, turn the gear with your fingers. If it turns both ways then the bearing is shot.

i took that cover from the starter off.i see the bearing turning when i hit the start button.

Wrong part that's the slipper clutch for the starter
The one way spray bearing is in the engine on the balencer
So bacilly you need to tear apart the whole engine to get to it
