Tips for those who still have the MC500 ECU

Here are some tips for those that have MC500 ECU that I have learned from experience.

I had a problem with my fuel pump not running and my FX400 not starting. So I bought a new fuel pump and it still didn't power on my fuel pump when the key was turned on. I was told that I probably had a bad ECU. So I bought a new ECU and that still wasn't the problem. The big tip that I'm geting to is that the MC500 has 2 relays and if one goes bad your bike won't start. If you have the same problems as I have had check your relays first before you go the route that I did its a quick and easy fix. Here is a way to touble shoot your relays with a Ohm meter.
1. Connect the positive probe to terminal #86 on relay and negative probe to #85 on Relay it should read 73 ohms (+or - 10%). If it doesn't its bad.
2. Connect the positive probe to terminal #30 and the negative probe to terminal #87 and check for continuity. If there is continuity the ralay is bad.
3. Use a 12V battery and connect the + side to terminal #86 and the ground terminal #85. There should be continuity between terminals 30 and 87. If not the relay is bad.
4. Make sure that your relays are still seated and have zip ties holding them on.

I hope this helps everyone out.

I mostly ride very fast in the desert and hit a few tracks around the Fallon/Fernley area. Its great because its baron and you can really wind your ike out at top speed I have raced my wife in her car on a highway and have kept up with her at over 70mph. There is also Sand Mountain about 30miles away from Fallon that is a blast to ride on and drag race up the mountain.
