my buddy just bought a 2002 speed it has all of the engine updates done, a cam, full hmf exhuast, my first ? is it dont want to start and when it does it stalls out, is this do to having the rong mapping or is it just because it is cold out my other ? is what things should he look out for as far as just ragular check ups

How long does it run before stalling? Does it overrev on start up? Things like that, the more specific you are about what its doing the more someone will able to tell you whats wrong.

some times it will run for a few seconds but other times it will run for a min. or two it does overrev when it does start

i learned the hard way to keep an eye out for loose bolts.
expecily on the battery terminals, they have a tendency to vibrate loose and the steering stem bolt i found if you put a little locktight on the threads they stay on a lot longer.

1) check the throttle calibration (need a D&M kit for this).
2) check that fuel is getting to all the relevent places (no cracked fuel lines, the quick releases are flowing ok and their rubber o-rings are in good condition)
3) check the crank sensor position is connected and seated properly.
