STQRA Round 1- Splendora, TX

#1 Post by CDaleChick »

The Round 1 of the STQRA Southern Challenge series kicked off at San Jacinto Cycle Park in Splendora, TX on February 26. We had 100 racers enter, including a couple national pros. After my injury and long layoff I decided to run the Womens Open class for another year. When I get back in shape I will also run the B class in addition to the Womens class.

Me and a fellow racer in my class pose for the cam before practice kicks off.

Practice started and after a lot of rain the day before, the track was very deep and rutted easily. It made for hard going and hardly anyone was getting any traction. Most riders were going fairly slow for their practice laps and were not jumping much.

Me on my first lap wondering why Im crazy enough to do this...haha jk!

As practice went on the track got a little better..but there were moments where it felt like your hubs were stipped out!

I quickly gained a pretty commanding lead within the first couple of laps. I started using this time to get used to my quad as this was my first time out on a track with it in almost 6 months.

I quickly got tired though, I definitely felt winded out there but still tried to push it. I figured out my areas of weakness for when I went out practicing next time.
