Hey Swampdale!!
Did you make it to the race????????
Race report for MidSouth H/S in Iuka MS.
Of course no pics, I had to drive down from KY alone, no one wanted to get out in the cold, wimppppppps!!!
Only 7 people in the Senoir 40 + class, but most are in the battle for the points title.
Race starts, I guess I went to sleep, so made the first turn in 6th out of the 7. Time to wake up and ride. Track was already rutting up in the first lap, some spots sandy others some type of clay/sand packing. There were a couple of challenging hills and a lot of mysteriuos mud holes. A lot of quads getting stuck. Several water crossings, one imperticular, they had people actually in the water showing you the safe way to cross. You dare not take a different line, water was at least 1 1/2 to 2 feet deep and about 40 foot across. Passed a lot of people at different points, hit the scoring tent in 2nd place. O.K. I survived the first lap, now to turn it on, Had a very good second lap but still hit the scoring tent in second place, Feeling good, now mental ready for the last lap, I got caught in a couple of small bottle necks, still O.K. no one passed me yet, Hit one of the water holes too fast, looked like a title wave, now I'm soaking wet and getting cold, still holding on. Made it to the big water crossing, a couple of bikes stalled, made it through, then at the bridge a bike was crossed up and hanging off the edge. Had to stop while they tried to get it back up, Lost too much time, the quads were lining up behind me. Finally clear path, took of and was able to get l a little breathing room from the pack. Last water crossing, through the water O.K., some guy pointing the best line out (WRONG), stuck not 2 feet out of the water, several quads slipped past me. The guy helped me get clear, lost very valuable time. Once going, I let it rip, going faster than I wanted but the dale was begging to be let loose. 8 mile marker I catch 2 quads, work past the first one and there it is the Yamaha 450 of our class points leader. A couple of open stretches but just couldn't get around tried a couple of bumps but no luck. getting close to the end had to try something, tried a old MX move trying to out brake him from the inside, Caught a rut and about lost it. Killed the motor, fired it back up and got on the gas, caught him again about 150 yards to go , on his butt, but no good line to pass. Race over, still got 3rd in my class. That last little bit was worth the whole race. The dale performed flawlessly, but the rider made a couple of mental errors.. Still learnin!!!, Good news, didn't hit any trees and nothing broke. One of these days I'll get someone to take some pics.
Ryanstones you should have been there, a little bit like Alabama track.
