Ohlins Rear Shock Warning

#1 Post by cannondale27 »

This screw has been loosening up on alot of Cannondales it seems. There is a O-ring behind it.If it loosens far enough oil will be blown out.Everyone needs to either peen over the screw, get oil changed and add Loctite to this screw or both.(prefered)DO NOT LOOSEN THE SCREW all oil will come out under 200psi of pressure.Tighten it if you want then peen it over Like this:

Wait a minute.Every shock I have seen the screw was loose which let the O-ring come out.4-5 shocks.I am looking at one now and just dont see a way for the o-ring to squeeze out if screw is tight. Are you positive of that?If so I have another solution in mind.

that is not the ohlins I sold you a while back was it??? If you peen it over do they need to take the screw out to rebuild it in the future???

Why yes it is.The peening over doesnt affect rebuild at all.Just a little resistance when you unscrew the screw. No biggy. If needed you could even file it off a bit and peen it over in a different location after rebuild.
