Tell me about it!I also have 4:10 gears and it was a stiff headwind pulling the enclosed 12ft trailer and 3 quads,gear,3 peolple. But I am not real happy. On the way there I was getting between 11 and 13 mpg stayed in overdrive most of the time even.Just seemed that my Tacoma pulled just as well as this truck which is why I wanted to move up in power.I guess the weight and size of truck negated any gains I should have got.

I bet the headwind was the real problem, 27, that and towing a brick into it.

I bet Ryan is right, I've towed my 21' Trailer through the WV mountains and avg'd 11 or 12 mpg with the Tundra and Seqouia.

I was with 27 on the trip, that wind was blowing strong 27. I remember seeing flags straight out. The wind and the mountains caused most your problems. Going there we didn't have any problems.

Not even the deer carcass slowed us down, but it scared the sheet out of me.

I was getting 12 to 13 mpg on the way home from the ride running 80mph pulling a 12 ft. trailer guessing about 2500 lbs. I have also run 100mph towing a jeep Cherokee on the highway with no problem.Truck has about 3800 miles on it and is getting around 17mpg empty.

ps. truck was assemble in Mexico

No the truck is big just needs more motor. At the price of diesel right now even at 8mpg I am money ahead.Sure do like the power of the diesels though.Just feels like Iam beating the tar out of my truck when you have to run it at over 3000rpm to have any power.

After having my diesel for over a year and towing with it I can tell you that I won't go back. I remember pulling hills and having to push the pedal to the floor in a gas truck now just pulls to the top doing 75-80 mph the whole way. Time difference is immense. On both my trips to NE from PA I was getting 13mpg and that was driving into a head wind.

Jaybr, congrats on the new truck, I bought an 04 Titan KC 4x4 about a month ago and I LOVE IT! Awesome power and comfortable ride. Plenty of low end torque for hauling. I just needed the 6 ft bed instead of that short bed otherwise I would have gotten the Crew Cab. GOOD CHOICE!!!
