Because the center tube in the axle eccentric has air space around it, you can shift it to the side as you gradually tap out the first two bearings, with a dowel or rod from the opposite side. Then, the next two bearings are wide open for an easy knock-out also. Actually, it can be faster and safer than having to evade the woman in your kitchen!
