Wow!Was the rodend still in piston like you show?If so I kinda think the rod broke first and then came up alongside and sheared the wristpin off.If wristpin broke first I would think piston would have cracked.

Here is my latest.Like a moron I forgot to tighten exhaust cam caps after doing cam timing.Got maybe 15min off this motor.Oops![attachment=8405:Cam_Cap_Loose.jpg]

Yep, that is how it was when I tore it down. I don't think the crank sheared the wristpin as the piston was still at the bottom of the stroke.

If that happened I would think the piston would have been smashed into the head which it was not. There are no MAJOR gashes in the sleeve which leads me to believe that when the wristpin hit the wall it sheared the rod and it continued its downward stroke smashing out the bottom of the case and putting a massive dent in the engine cradle. Probably the "BEST" case scenario really instead of trashing the head as well

Think about how much force would be on one side of piston though. I guess if rod broke on downstroke it makes sense since piston would be crooked in bore and then rod just couldnt take it. I guess CP's are really strong!

This is what I use to combat those vermin. This is my latest....she was found in a corn field running wild....Now she is living the high life in my mouse infested home. Well, it used to be mouse infested....I have a real big cat out in the barn. He is huge, a real bad ***. I'll get a pic of him sometime, if I can.

I'll mention that to the customer. He is picking up the Moto tomorrow, and we are having a cold snap here. I just bet those mice are waiting for the mobile home to return!
