Well I guess I panicked over the thought of ATK having to supply hundreds of quads to racers because of huge contingencies. The contingencies are in fact parts or quad credits not cash.Panic over sorry guys.

Actually wistech I am glad you did. What would be intersting to know is if you think (your opinion) as to whether or not buying an ATK from ATK would cross some of these items off the list?

I already know they do not check the hoses or fuel lines.

Just curious. Thanks for putting this back up top!!

Wistech how about the recent discovery by Timbo of the exhaust buckets sticking opposite the decompression?Seems to be at a very high rate of defect and this alone can cause cam failure etc.

Also how about pressure testing? For leaks?

Man it something reading old posts!

Thats a good question. If I were ever to buy a brand new ATK I would treat it just the same as if I bought a new crate Cannondale.
I'd tear it completely down and spend the $200 in parts to completely build it to what I know is proven upgrades.
Plus I'd add checking the shift mechanism /upgrade to stock cannondale roller, remove clutch band sound dampener if equipted, check /replace weak wrist pin and cast iron sleeve with longer lasting nikasil sleeve.

Thanks wistech,

I think I will send it off to Brad at the end of the season here in Cali.

I forgot to mention that there was no Engine Mount Update either. I guess they didn't think that it should be done. That one was an official factory update though which should be done by ATK I would think.

Anyway again thanks!! I think you're right on this one.

How about adding some links to instructions for fixes, or explanation of what the updates are for. For us newbies.

Such as:

2 Decompression mechanism inspection, tightening
3 Oil dipstick removal -
4 Sump magnets/paper oil filter/ or stainless mesh filter with magnets, more magnets

6 Replace swingarm pivot with solid or studded one

9 FX400 flywheel bearing replaced with 03 style

11 Checking for sticking cam buckets
12 Magnets in cyllinder head

18 Replacing stator wires with high temp ones and heat shielding

Non vital

3 Shift shaft shims

5 Wiring harness relay instalation

7 Status lights
8 Headlight bulb reinforcement

We just got burned on an engine by not installing a pad under it. Within a hour the skid plate rubbed through and produced a leak in one of the welds. A little epoxy and silicone fixed it but it wouldn't have been needed if the pad was installed.
