New 5th

#1 Post by theJeStEr1340 »

5th gear that is! I was keeping up with a B class racer (I am C class) until a long sandy back section where we would both hit 5th gear. so now I am dropping my motor and putting a new motard 5th gear in. Wish me luck, I will be taking all plastic off and draining all fluids tomorrow, then starting to drop the motor.

Why don't you leave the stock 5th gear in and install a Timbo stroker instead? Then you'll have no problems pulling 5th!

Get the wiseco stock piston ,port the head, and install the bike velocity stack . Then you wont need the motard gears .

I have a motard gear in the ATK and regular 5th in the stroker 450. All I had done was the short air horn and the stroker crank and it feels just like it has the motard gear, just goes to a higher top speed. It can actually pull other quads down the straights. I think if you plan on modding the engine, leave the gears the same. You'll most likely regret it.
