NGK CR8,9 or 10EK Plug

#1 Post by 440rider »

Seeing what plug everyone runs, why and what the difference is between the three.... I have heard the 8 wont foul as much as a 9 but a 9 runs hotter and is a better plug, does anyone have experience with a 10? Manual calls for a 9EK...Tks

I understood that the 8 was a 1 step hotter plug so by that then the 10 would be one step cooler than stock.

Yes? No?

I run a 9...Local guy told me they used to race and run strictly 8 well I put an 8 in and flames come shooting out my exhaust and so does a bunch of flaming packing...So i immiediatly went back to a 9 and now run perfectly fine...

The MX400, FX400 and X440s owners manuals, 2001 print, say 8. The 2002 and 2003 Engine parts catalogs say 9, but then indicate the same Wiseco piston, while the 2002 ATV Owners manuals says 10?... The 2003 Bike Manual says 9.
sheesh!

And I wonder, has anyone ever seen a number 10 plug come out of a factory Cannondale?

you are absolutly right it does say ngk (cr10ek) in manual. I have a 10 at home I need to adjust my settings and put a new plug in so i'll give a 10 a shot.
