What are the case covers on the cannondales made out of? ALuminum or magnesium? Want to ge tmine powdercoated but need to know first

Im only 95% sure there aluminum because people powdercoat/paint them all the time. SO giv'r.

Large side cover over the timing chain in Mag. Smaller one over clutch also.

Make sure to clean it very well, bake out any oils that may be trapped and than take it to the PC.

The powdercoaters will spray on some special primer to ensure the magnesium does NOT outgas during the powdercoating process. If the magnesium does not get the primer applied, the end result will look like crap. I know because I have had three side covers done this month and some hubs.... (FYI - Front Moto hubs are also magnesium, and make sure you mention magnesium to the powder guy)

Yep watch the front spindles to. The side covers need to be baked for sure .I boil them and then bake them. You would not believe all the crap that comes out of that metal.
