The 350 is a great motor. But it wasnt always that way. The 350 has come a long ways to be what it is today,it didnt start out life being the motor it is today. It is a cheap motor to build but not so cheap that i wouldnt build a ford. The problem with the 350 is its everywere,so much thats its sicking. when i go to a car show if it has a 350 I keep on walking. $100,000 or more into a car and it has a run of the mill 350. if you going to do it DO IT, do something out there. I have a friend building a 67 Chevelle with a 502 should be a runner I cant wait.

The 350 has always been a great motor. It was the 265-283-307 that have always been less desirable. Fords are getting cheaper as are Mopar and Pontiac. The 350 is my choice for a foundation, I just throw a few curves in there like my 383 Stroker with a paxton blower thats in my astro. Near Stock 350s are getting boring, though. Its hard to believe they quit making the regular old 350 7 years ago.

I think the last year for the "regular" 350 was 1985. Prettty much all parts after that were not interchangable to the old block. The one piece rear main and different head/manifolds made the L98 a new engine. Then after that they changed darn near every year. . Thats the case for my vette anyway .
Didnt paxton go out of business? I put a paxton on a 1990 454ss pickup about 10 years ago . 350rwhp and 800 pounds of torque. The charger had a rotor failure at about 30,000 miles and I had a heck of a time finding the company that had what was left of thier inventory to rebuild the ball drive. Pretty cool units though.

I want a Charger bad. I tried to get my wife to sell the Yukon and get one of them but it will prolly never happen.

They made the 5.7 tbi until 2001 in some trucks. You can actually use all the parts on all different years. The newer one piece seal cranks just need an adapter to put them in an older block. heads will all interchange , just the newer ones are focused on velocity for more torque and better fuel efficiancy (low rpm, make little hp). The 87-up roller cams will work in an older block just have to drill holes for the spiders to keep the lifters from turning. Paxton is out of business. Vortech bought them but still sell paxton blowers. Mines a Novi2000. I make 563 hp and 701 ft lb of torque out of my 383 when I put the overdrive pulley on it.

I'm a bit weird. My next hot rod is going to be either a shoebox or a 68-70 Chevelle with an LB7 Duramax diesel in it. Hehe. I figure 800hp and 1200tq should be interesting. Won't even break a sweat, and it can pull the tow vehicle home if need be. LOL.
