Cyclone velocity stack only if you are ported, otherwise you get a hole in the bototm end. If not ported, then Boomer style with pod filter. Pick yer brand of Filter, I run made in the USA No Toil dual stage foam for $20. I think I have a part number somewhere, as it is for another application. You can do a K&N instead, your choice.

Do these pod filters get really dirty or exposed to dirt and water much?

Yes they get dirty as the stocker.Water protection is not as good as stock box.If Trailriding or xc,harescrambles I would go with a motorcycle airhorned stock box.

Yah, I guess it depends on your preference. They flow WAY better. The shorter dirtbike velocity stack is good for 2 dyno proven horsepower, and the loss of airbox is good for 2.5hp from what I remember reading. Basically going from an airbox to a pod filter with dirtbike velocity stack is good for 4.5hp total, dyno proven. You can TOTALLY tell the difference too. I went from having to yank on the bars in second gear to wheelie to being able to hit the throttle in fourth gear and wheelying! In the sand! It was a huge difference! HUGE! I will never go back to a stock airbox because of this. Boomer also sells (or you can fabricate) a flap to guard the filter, and if you wanted more protection you can get an Outerwear prefilter, they come with waterproof oil....

I run Timbo's cyclone with a pod filter and a outerwear. It's not 100% waterproof ,but it breaths way better. In dirty conditions the outerwear helps it stay cleaner longer.
