Interesting. I wonder if the previous owner machined the holes or if it's something the factory was playing with.

Cool!I ran into one that had holes in the One-way gear.Also one that the metal pump gears were a press fit on the shafts.Like you said a box of chocolates!Makes it fun to take them apart.
