i needed to get away from the cannondale for awhile so i figured a new project was in order. a guy had a 80's Scat hovercraft sitting under a snowbank at work and he wanted a old snowmobile, so i traded him my 1981 Jag 440 straight up. Everything was there for the hovercraft minus the skirt which i was able to find on ebay. it is deffinatly different to drive, you need a lot of open area if you want to get going good. i only have a few hot laps on it around the yard and field, i'll be able to tell you guys more after i get it on the lake!

This is how i got it

Installing engine

Installing the Skirt.

Finished Product

Time for some fun!

it only has a Rotax 277 in it at the moment. i heard about 40mph is all they are supposed to do with that engine. if you step up to a Rotax 503 you double the HP and you can get different fan blades with 30% more thrust. i've heard with the 503 and a little work 70mph is doable lol

no kidding! we got just some rain last night and it made 1/4" crust on top of the snow, it doesn't sink down at all!! the other day in pure powder it sank down a inch or so. lol endless possibilities

yup, even if you turn the engine off it is unsinkable. the hull has a foam liner in it, it's pretty cool how simple everything on it is. but as long as your riding on the air cousion it doesn't matter what you go over really as long it's not a huge rock or something that could hit the hull. i think as long as the obstical is as wide as the machine your ok because the skirt will make up for the difference in terrain but if it is just a single stump and you center it up i would say your gonna be in trouble.
