quadsource motor-mount update??????

I am having problems with the Quadsource motor-mount update. I started to do it today, and something does not seem right with it. It instucts you to use a 13/32 bit, after taking the bolts out of the motor-mounts to drill the threads out. Well, the only threads are the ones on the motor part. Not the frame part. This would widen the hole on the frame. That seems like it would not be necessary, and it would compromise the integrity of the frame. Any help would be appriceated. Pictures would be really helpful Thanks

your not drilling the frame your just drilling the threads from the inserts in the frame

don't sweat it i have had one on my quad for some time and not a thing to worrie about just lock tight it and you going to be fine.
the up date form c-dale . had you knock out the inserts so there would be some slop be it little still was a chance .
with there kit theres no slop

hmmmmmmmmm

To even start to get to the threads I am gonna have to drill out a larger hole in the actual frame holes that are smooth on the inside. With a 13/32 bit, there would not be much left of the frame. Like I said. I wonder if it does not need done on mine? I could not imagine anyone thinking it is a good idea to drill the frame out. any pics at all?

are you sure you have the right bit ? my bit slid in the holes that are in the frame .
just cutting the threads and thats all .
i think you may have a miss marked bit .
when i did mine the holes in the frame acted as a guide for the drill bit .

i have a 02 moto too dont think theres a change. in the frames

followed instructions

The instructions that came with the kit said a 13/32, and that is a large bit. It will not fit through the tabs on the frame. It would take a considerably smaller bit to do that. The bolt for the kit is much smaller than the drill bit. If I used the 13/32 bit it would ream the frame tabs to almost nothing. This is the toughest "easy" project I have ever taken on............

I double checked

the instructions called for a 13/32 bit, and that is what I got according to the Craftsmans package. I know something is not right here???????

i know this is gona sound odd but i think your drill index is wrong .
13/32 is smaller than a 1/2 inch . our frames are just under a inch . i would guess.

just got off the phone with tom from the shop . he told me he gave you a call but got your machine. so give him a call tomorrow.
at the shop

i would say find the bit that matches the bolt and use that

for sure

Ya, you are right. I will give him a call, and I think you are right on the bit the size of the bolt..........

The 13/32 bit should not be bigger than the hole in the frame. I have done several of these kits.Unless the hole in your frame is smaller than the ones i have done. you can actually use a 25/64 bit,its the next size smaller. the bolt than will fit real tight. when you use the 25/64 bit it is very critical that you drill as strait as you possibly can because it is so tight to the bolt.I called you back sorry i missed you . if you have any other problems please dont hesitate to call. Tom, Quadsource Motorsports

thanks, both of you guys.....
