were the goose neck trailers enclosed or open? and how did the dually pull?

The goose neck was open but a heavy booger it was, and wasn't 53' I think it was 43'. The truck was a 2002 chevy durmax 2wd dually, it needed a bit more power it was on the stock tune.

Length has nothing to do with how hard it will be to pull. In fact the longer the wheel base the more stable, although a fifth wheel can't get much more stable.

The resistance comes from frontal area. If it's about the same as the travel trailer, it will pull with the same ease at speed. Total weight affects acceleration and braking.

the length of the trailer has to effect how it handles in cross winds mountains, ect... i just wonder if 53' is too long for a single axle pick up?...

AHHH, I hadn't really thought of crosswinds. I still don't think it would be a problem IMHO.

Is the tongue weight, once loaded going to be too much for your SRW? Lot of difference in payload(tongue weight for a fifth wheel) between a DRW and SRW even if the SRW is a one ton.

that would be a very long trailer, if you get on any hairpin turns you may have some serious issues
