The R conversion shows a little more of the frame than stock and I need to clean my frame. What acid is safe to use?Do I have to worry about getting it on anything?

I get acid from carbright, it works awesome, but it also corrodes the stock cannondale steel bolts and fasteners very easily. All I use on my bikes is simple green and a scotchbrite pad

I have had good luck with the Eagle One etching mag cleaner. But like doug said it would be tough on things if you dont get it off fairly quick.I used it on the stocker frame I got while it was all apart so the bolts werent a factor turned out exactly like new.

I wouldn't use acid, it tends to turn the aluminum white and is almost impossible to get rid of. I use grade 0000 steel whool on my frame. It polishes better than a paste and last longer. You would think steel whool would scratch it but 0000 is considered to be a final finish metal polish.
