will ATK end up like cannondale?

Do you think ATK is going to make quads that are going to stick around for a while and be just as much a choice of racers as the yfz and trx are, or stop manufacturing them like cannondale?

One can always claim to have foresight, but.....

ATK has been around quite a few years already, and the investment was not as great as what Cannondale spent to get to the point they were at before bankruptcy. Frank White has personally told me that there are some exciting new things coming for the old Cannondale line in the next two seasons. There have been rumors of Factory support (now true, see Jeff's post), to possibly additional factory riders (maybe even in MX). The biggest issue I see to overcome, is the sales of the current models. It's hard to justify spending money on upgrades and improvements if the current models are not selling well.

I've touched on this before, but I think we can be our own worst enemy on this... We demand and seek cut rate prices on bikes and parts (only available because of the bankruptcy), and we don't realize that we own what can only be described as the Ferrari of ATV / Motorcycles. They may not be the best at pure motorcross as is, but they are extremely fast and can be tuned to handle as good as anything out there in stock form. How many of you out there are willing to spend the bucks on a new ATK, with all the goodies and an updated motor? I'll bet not many. So where does that leave ATK? I for one hope that ATK can make this work, I know I don't ride as much as most of you, but I love everything about my quads.

Just my 2 cents.

I personally can't justify an ATK for 8k when I can find a fairly new cannibal for 3k, get the motor built by them for 2k and spend another 2k in suspension mods & tires/wheels to have a setup better than what ATK has for $1000 less. While ATK is doing a great job and I applaud them for keeping parts, it's just not justifiable especially to a weekend warrior who don't need all the upgrades to spend 8k on a quad they can get for 3k without the motor updates. And for the most part, most motors were good so until drastic improvements are made I don't see ATK sales being too high in the future.

Agree with both you guys, i just hope that ATK doesn't go under. I would like to see as many ATK/dales racing yfz's and trx's because i sure as **** know that ATKs can keep up, if not beat those other quads.

it all cost the same rather sooner than later. i have 9500.00 into mine and don't have a 450. atk quads are a awesome deal. to modify a trx or yfz to a national caliber will roughly cost 15 thousand or more.to compete for a podium.

Hey Cheetah,

How much do you think your 7k Cannibal will be worth without ATK supplying parts? Heck, how much is it worth now, with them in business? I don't disagree with anyone's choices here, just mentioning the double standard we put ourselves in.......

No quad yet trips the trigger like a Cannondale or ATK but I for one have a wife and kids who while supportive of my hobby dont exactly jump up and down at the thought of a new quad. Therefore a new ATK is out of the question for me.As far as ATK needing $ like cannondale did.I wouldnt worry about that the profit margin is huge on all those parts. However they will not move on untill all the parts are gone as stated in the ATK video.

Yeah, and consider that ATK has been around for quite a while without the need to mass market and sell bikes.. how many of their dirtbikes do you see out at the track compared to the other manufacturers.. they obviously have developed a business model that offers them the margin required to stay in business on less bikes moved out the door. Now, if they'd just let us all in on that secret smile.gif

But imho you guys have pretty much hit it right on the head.. because even if you or me aren't the ones out there buying a new atk at 8k to 10k, but maybe someone who sees you out at the track running with the hondas and yamahas is..

I have no doubt that more machines get sold on the "hey..I saw this guy that was fast riding a , so I'm getting one" premise than there are folks that purchase based on an educated decision.

In a way you support them just by running a bike like what they sell.

again..just my .02
