Coil Could Be Burnt?

Guys i hooked a set of headlights on a toggle switch to my battery on my dale (03 cannibal). when i turned them on the bike spit and sputter and died like it was way out of timing and backfired, now the bike is running like crap, dying and backfiring, startsa right up but will barely pull its own ***, i am doing a process of elimination of parts hewre tryong to get this thing running, so you think i could have toasted the coil? it soiunds like it is breaking down, but not sure? any advice?

Have you checked the output voltage coming from the stater?:confused:

no, how do i accomplish that and ensure an accurate reading?

If you have a d&m kit it will show the voltage in the "monitor ECU parameter" tab. Or you can use a volt meter & check across the battery terminals while it is running. But the d&m kit would be more accurate.smile.gif

Ok, for more complete instructions, follow the EFI manual. Jaybr posted the diagnosis for the stator and voltage regulator in the forums.

have you guys ever heard of Pro-Design kill switches causing problems? i have one on it now and thinking of switching?
