I use XM Radio and absolutely love it. The only real differences for the moment is a few programming options and the price.

XM = $9.95 month
Sirius = $12.95 month

There are some changes that are interesting, depending on what your dad likes to listen to. Go to the Web sites and sign up for a 3 day free trial over the Net. You can listen to the stations and make your own choices.

Sirius just started broadcasting NFL football games, XM does college and I think NBA. Sirius will have Howard Stern (free), XM has Opie & Andy (Who??) but for an additional charge (who cares).

I listened to the same station from Miami, FL to Bradford, PA without any problems until I got into the mountains, and then for only a few seconds.

PM me your phone number and we can talk more if you want.

Sometimes when i cant find a song i like, i will put the radio on, but i i cant listen to it. Its hard to make out what there saying on the radio, because im used to the high sound quality of the satalite.

I am getting XM. Like Kdeal said there is no real difference except for price. I can't see paying an extra $3 for Howard Stern.

Anyone interested can go to www.xmradio.com and sign up for a free 3-day trial via internet radio. The sound is good digital quality and the selection is good on the channels I listen to. I have a pretty high end car stereo in my truck, if anyone has any questions please send me a PM and I will try and help. Don't forget the cost of the add on tuner to your total cost. There are models to add-on to any car stereo, or most aftermarket stereos. They also have a several components to recieve the signal at home and a brand new walkman style radio!!!

I have XM. I haven't heard sirrus so I can't compare. I can say that I don't really like the music on XM. I listen to the comedy channel & opie & anthony(being from boston I know who they are.biggrin.gif) 90% of the time. The rock channels are either kind of pop radio crap or super hardcore. There isn't much middle ground. I can say my girlfriend loves it. She listens to tons of the music channels. So your mom would probably be very happy with the music channels.

I have an alpine with the tuner built in, so no seperate box to install which is kind of nice. It will also control an ipod with a $100 add on box. Looking back I should have bought the unit that can be taken out of the car and put in your house etc.. Delphi makes it maybe? I hate not having the XM in the house.I could get another reciever for the house. Then I'd need another subscription though.

I too have XM and love it. Never compared to sirius, but I'm happy with XM so I probably won't.
