Is this a problem on the 2008 models also?

Yes.I also heard they switched to thinner valve buckets and some are cracking.All these issues just seem to effect racers though.

I guess what I meant was failure rate is more in the tranny area on these but other makes have other issues especially when raced.You cant win unless its slow I guess.

Here is a quote from one of the guys I race with that briefly had a ltr450

"Bought it brand new in sept. Raced the last round at Byron. November, broke third pinion gear right in half. Rebuilt trans. January, blew head gasket, found left front cylinder stud pulled out off cases. Replaced cases. February. water pump failed at glamis. People riding it ran it out of water and cooked it, ruining cylinder head and camshafts. Total hours on hour meter: 18.5

He was putting out 61 hp with a Max Power 527 cylinder. He is back on a Honda.
