They are similar to the honda 250r except not as popular and don't handle near as good.

They were kind of throw away quads and motors for the most part IMHO! There is a reason that there are not too many of them around besides the fact that the 250r outsold them many times over.
You will likely get what you pay for and if so that is the only way to do it... comes with its own parts quad!

Thats quite the broad spectrum of choices you have.Banshee is fastest and very close to 400ex for reliability if not modded.400ex has best suspension of those you listed and is very reliable if you keep oil in it.Why not buy a Cannondale?

You don't even have to change the oil in a 400ex. My friend had one and changed the oil once after he broke it in and once in the next year. He rode pretty much every weekend. But I wouldn't suggest doing that.

I agree. But they do tend to burn a little normally so just keep it full.Or when it runs out and goes tight just let it cool down and then add some before your next ride laugh.gif

I have owned a couple. The later ones are not bad bikes, but stay away from 85-86 LT250Rs unless you can get them extremely cheap.

I rode one once. All I can remember about it was that I hated it. My z400 was way better. Ya, a z400. So that tells you how nice that ltr250 must have been!
