I'm cleaning the carb on a 2000 Kawasaki Praire 300. Question is, do you have to put something on the carb heater things like anti sieze or something when re-installing? The reason I ask, it looks like there was something on the threads and "elements" when I removed them, some kind of white goop type stuff. I have no idea what it is since I don't have a manual for it. It is a keihin cv type. Thanks for any input.

Its got a heater? Anyway just go to Radio Shack or auto store. I don't remember the name of the grease but it is used for Heatsinks in electronics and you also use it under ignition module of a GM distributer. It improves heat transfer.

Thanks Steve, yes it has more wires going to the carb than I have ever seen before. It looks like it has two heat elements. Should I clean the old stuff out or not a big deal?

If enough is there just leave it. It will still do job. You going riding tomorrow?

It's called Thermal Grease or Thermal compound. There is also a Thermal Epoxy.

No, its a dielectric silicone based grease. My brother uses a silmilar product at work as he is an electric utility lineman.

After googleing both, it sounds like it would be thermal grease. It is dry so I'll clean it out and replace it.

The guy at the auto parts store had no idea what I was talking about. I went to radio shack next and the guy took me right over to the shelf. Heat sink compound. Good to go. It looks like the same thing that was in the holes originally so I think I got it right. Def not dielectric grease.
