I've been running 100 octane in my moto for a season and it hasn't missed a beat until I had a valvetrain failure. NO fuel problems to date.

From what I understood, CDale upgraded some of the fuel lines and such in 03. Maybe that has something to do with it? OR maybe I'll be back soon saying that I shouldn't have run race gas. Time will tell:(

Race gas runs fine in the dales, it has been known to cause the rubber o-rings to swell etc in some of the fittings, specificaly the junky quick connect on the bottom of the tank, just go to Lowe`s and get a generic fitting, put the hose on with a clamp, problem solved, race gas runs cleaner through anything that burns gas, why in the world would it run worse in a dale? that doesnt make any sense to me.......i believe the manual reccommends 97+ octane.
