I work at a KTM dealer and ive ridden a 525 conversion 250r.........and it wasnt slow.....ive been told they cork up that monster 525 in the outlaw just because it is a brute of torque. I drive 525's all the time of all different versions...and they all have alot of power...more then 450 dirtbikes.....not soo much more horsepower...but the torque is something to grin a huge smile over.

QUOTE (T-Rex @ Feb 20 2007, 02:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Those numbers are not very impressive at all, thats a 525cc engine right? I think the 500cc Predator puts out around 43rwhp stock.

Most engine quotes are at the coutershaft. When we dyno one we are getting rear wheel hp which is different. I've been out riding with a guy that had a 2003 Predator & now has the 525 Outlaw. The Outlaw will smoke the 500 Predator out of the hole. I wouldn't underestimate the power in that motor, maybe the application, weight of quad, etc......

Have looked into this. They really plugged up the motor.Put a small carb on it and same exhaust as Regular Predator. The numbers are right but will easily be changed once parts are available.

KNobbies rob 5hp on a dyno? Is that accurate according to others' experience?

3hp for sure so depending on knobbies yes could be true.

Chromoly frame ? Looks like mild steel bending for a 15mph hit. I would weld a large gusset plate just behind the arm mounts .

15mph and a immovable object like a tree will even do in a Dale frame. From the looks of it I would bet the guy just "claimed" he was doing 15mph.Better to try and get a frame out of KTM or even insurance. How would anyone know the speed anyhow?
