I want to install an E440 Spark arrestor to my X440. The mounting holes do not align just right. Not enough metal to enlarge the front hole. Can I get by with just the spring and the larger rear bolt?
Any Ideas?

Loosening the bottom header nuts will tweak the header outlet up just slightly, and you might get lucky and it MIGHT not leak there....Otherwise, the motor needs some partial drop to re-set the header to suit. You could also start the front flange bolt FIRST after some minimal ovaling of that flange hole, and then bolt up the rear M8 last. The mid-mount is useful to prevent cracking -- if not extremely pre-strained, and some bending of the tab, and tweaking with front-rear fender washers may be necessary.

I got it to fit.Elongated the front hole about a 1/16" and the rear hole just a hair. Took a little force, but it went. Now I need to get the crack welded.
Should not be a big deal.
