I just changed my fuel filter that still had the OEM part number on it. The exit fitting on the filter had a twist, or spiral in it. Was this the way they were or did this one just get twisted somehow?

There must have been some twisting tension on it and the heat helped to relieve and set it like that... to my knowledge they do not come like that.
You were way overdue for a replacement!

I just bought the bike a few months ago. Took my first ride a couple of weeks ago and the injector bung came off. Today I put the new o-rings on and changed the filter.Bike has very low hours, but you are right, the filter was due. I always wondered why my fuel looked like a vortex when it was flowing.
Bike still runs the same, but the filter does empty faster.
