Simplest way to explain.
wear safty glasses and make sure to protect everthing that might get brake fluid on it
1 remove brake line from yhe master
2 fill resivor
3 squeeze brake lever
4 seal off hole where brake line was attached
5 release brake lever
6 wait a second
7 remove whatever you sealed brakeline hole with
repeat from step 3 on making sure resivor doesn't go dry
should take only 2 or 3 tries to get a good shot of fluid each time you sqeeze the lever

Yes or maybe try taking it apart and take a look. All the parts are available would just need to do some crosschecking.I bet DOT3 was run through or the seals just dried out.Maybe just take it apart and barring any defects just soak the cupseals in dot4 and try again.

You can buy a cheap cannondale master.Stick with Cannondale since it is matched to our caliper piston size. Not sure what using a different master would do.As far as rebuilding the old one go for it.you have nothing to lose. They are not that complicated.

I use a honda trx450r master cylinder, it is a direct bolt on. Fairly cheap on ebay. It doesn't perform any better, but it has an adjustable lever, which is nice.
