When removing the engine, what do you do to disconnect the hyd. clutch so that when you put everything back together it works again? Do i just disconnect the hose and then bleed it when i put it all back together? or what else can i do? By the way, Ive already put a can between the clutch lever and the handle bar with rubberbands to make sure that my lever does not get pulled by accident with the motor out.

It's usually best just to leave it together and unbolt it from the case.That way you don't have to bleed it.

Good idea on the can behind the lever.

Some git pulled my clutch and bust the end off my slave cylinder for me.... Cheers!!!!

One of the bolts holding the front sprocket cover (if I remember right) goes through the clutch slave and then there are another two 6mm hex head bolts in it. It's just by your right heel as you ride.

Haydug came up with a another good tip to prevent that.Just push slave cylinder all the way in then pull clutch lever to the bars and ziptie it.Its funny how hard it is for people to resist pulling in clutch lever.

I couldn't resist jumping in here - since I busted my own slave by squeezing the lever. The engine was out, and I guess my hands just HAD to do something while I was talking with a friend...

Pull the two bolts off the countershaft guard and remove the guard. Remove the two remaining bolts in the slave cylinder and it will lift away from the engine case - still attached to the hose. This is a lot easier to do if the chain has been removed.

For your information - we have a good supply of new slave cylinders should some git squeeze your clutch lever!

Thanks everyone for the help...i got my engine completely out monday after disconnecting the clutch ...i used the method that brad talked about...and a put a can between the clutch lever and the handlebar...so everything is set...hopefully i can get my engine don soon... smile.gif

My engine is out, and my slave cylinder is just dangling there and it appears to be leaking. Is there a rebuild kit for these or do you have to buy a new slave or???

If the snap ring is still installed, and the groove that it fits into is intact, then it's probably just the o-ring that needs attention. Sometimes the piston get mis-aligned in the housing which leads to leaks. Take the slave apart and make sure the o-ring is intact and everything is clean and straight. You'll have to contact Magura if you need a new o-ring.

One of those suggestions should fix your leak. The only time the slave really needs to be replaced is if you blow the piston right out of its housing, which breaks it.
