my quad is not charging, i am getting voltage to the voltage reg. but the battery is losing volts as it runs.

how do i check the voltage reg and the two red wires that attach to the starter selenoid, to they go to the top or bottom of the two studs? thanks in advance

Does not matter which studs you put the starter or the battery to, it is a solenoid. Whatever works out the best for lenghts and tucking it out of the way is fine and it will work.
Most likely your problem is behind the flywheel and you will need to remove it to check. There is a metal clamp in there that can rub thru the wires and create a short which sometimes takes out the stator.
There is a service bulliten about it.
Hope this gets you in the right direction but others may chime in, there is a procedure for checking the charging system but sometimes it is best to check the obvious.
