Does anyone know if there is a way to take the flywheel off without a chainsaw flywheel puller? I'm at Silver Lake sand dunes and didnt get to ride much yesterday because it would go for awhile and then just die. So we took off the cover and saw that the stator wires were bare and corroded looking. Cant ride today cuz we cant get the flywheel off and no one has a chainsaw puller. Let me know if there is any way of getting it off without hurting it. Thanks,
Justin

W/basic tools and what you probably have while at the dunes I'd say no. There's not many ways of getting it off w/out damaging it unless you have a puller. Somebody may chime in w/an idea but I can't think of any. I tried for nearly a week to do so a couple years back and never found a way until I got my puller. A good tool to buy and keep in your toolbox incase you ever need it or to do an engine teardown.

Sorry for the bad luck.

too many things to mess up with other methods...prying will only leave to a damaged case and flywheel....although the thought did cross my mine... rolleyes.gif

The part number for the stihl chainsaw puller is 1106 890 4501
here is some info for the KTM one that works
Steahlyoffroad.com at 1-800-800-2363 the puller stock no. is "E-12".

If you go to the FAQ'S,updates and how to's forum and do a search for parts FAQ you will find resources for a lot of parts and specialty tooling.

hope this helps

I would definitely go through one of the site sponsors for the best deal. The only reason i threw out the other 2 options is if you need it ASAP and happen to have one of those dealers nearby.
