I was just checking to see if my latest purchase needs the HEX update and noticed that the 9th digit of our VINs seem to be all over the place. If you look in the injector cals list they seem to form no pattern....

I take it the last numeric digits are the significant ones to look at when deciding if you need a HEX update....?

None of my VINs appear in the injector cals list either, not sure if anyone can shed any light on this?

My VINs are-

5B6BB31302B001215

5B6BB31362B001140

5B6CB31302B000246

Cheers....

Wayne,

The 9th digit is some sort of "check digit". This is a usually represented in some sort of order like odd days - odd numbers & even days - even numbers. There is some sort of pattern when put in VIN number order. They seem to go in order 0,2,4,6,8,x & 1,3,5,7,9,x. They don't use all of them in a day everyday, hence they don't always make sense. Like they made 3 Cannibals that day they would use 0,2 & 4, but the next VIN number made the next day would start with 1,3,etc. Some high volumn days they went around the cycle of numbers more than once.

On your VINs:

5B6BB31302B001215 is a 2002 Cannibal with motor #1673 was dynoed on 4/20/02 @ 4:42pm. The worst hex code offenders is everything included in the pic below and earlier. BUT, there is a newer hex code even after these units. I would upgrade all ECUs. If you need help send them to me and I'll do it.

Wow Ken..... where ever did you dig all that info up from? I looked on 'Dalers but it stopped before my VINs in the '02 list.... unless I'm missing something....

I have the D&M and Pro-Cal kit, I can use that to put the newest hex code in can't I?... assuming it's available....

If it can be e-mailed that would save sending stuff around the world unecessarily....

Thanks for your quick help.....

Cheers

The above specs were taken from a Service bulletin that was sent out early to mid 2002. The hex code you are looking for has a 4 in the file name where as the bulletin was having everybody upgrade to version 3. Yes the file can be e-mailed. I PMd you with some goodies.
