I spent a few hours today cleaning engine parts when I noticed the date printed on the inside of the engine side cover.The date is 9/11/2001.
Does anyone know if this date is when the engine was assembled or when the side cover was made?

Post the VIN number from the frame and the engine number on the back of the motor and I will get you some more info.

VIN #5b6bb31362b000330 was an early 2002 Canibal with motor number #834 & was dynoed on 9/19/2001 @ 10:41am. The dyno specs were: Max throttle volts: 4.84, Min throttle volts: 0.34, Throttle Position: 3.4, @ 2087rpm, Inj Flow: 2603, Inj Offset: 0.88, AFR: 11.9, AFR full: 13.5, oil press @ idle: 4, oil press @ rev: 8.5, done by employee: ig.

Your motor is a 2001 motor and it is the correct motor for the frame number you provided.

Max throttle volts: 4.41, Min Throttle Volts: 0.34, TGhrottle Offset: 0.5, Throttle Position: 3.6, @ 1993rpm, Inj Flow: 2350, Inj Offset: 1.0, AFR: 12.4, AFR @ Full: 13.5, oil press @ idle: 4.5, Oi press @ rev: 8.5, done by employee: ig as a line item with a2 ecu, rev 204 4k hex code & 157 amps @ 4500 rpm. The motor does not appear to be the original one, I show it coming in a Cannibal.
