Here are the pics of my case after its first trip after break-in.... and after all the money spent replacing nearly everything INSIDE the motor. Guess thats just how it goes!...

Oh yeah, just wanted to add that this engine still ran!

One like that makes me wonder if the crankplate is fitting properly in the case. It's the only thing that would stress it in that area. I wonder if installing without the guide pins also would add to stress if its not clocked right?

I've only seen one other case like that....It was the original case in Wistech's St Anthonie's quad. He was spinning the tires on the ice under a bridge and hit a patch of snow and got killer traction wide open in 5th gear. Twisted it like a pretzel. It's hard to tell but that could be one of the cases known for cracking, but I never saw one do anything more than crack...not implode. I do see that the crack goes right thru the area known to start cracks on the back wall above the crank bearing.

Yep mine ripped open just like that. Pretty cool It still ran and you could see the crank spinning away through the crack.. Lots of oil sparying out though LOL. Nothing damaged other than the case.

It happened when I was casually riding at the dunes. It died, I started it back up, went up and down a small hill pounded through a small set of whoops and then it got really loud, lol. I looked and oil was everywhere. It was crazy, when we got back to camp all the guys with us were checking it out and so I tapped the starter just to see if it was siezed.....and it started! haha. The crankplate was also broken into 3 pieces. Two pieces in the upper left part broke off. Also, the piston pin access cover stretched and broke at one of the places a bolt goes through. Other than that, its all good. So much for those brand new main bearings, plus now I have to replace every sinlge bearing in the case and crankplate :''''( Oh well, got my JD Case on the way here any day now. smile.gif
