I figured I'd post a few pics of my ktm 440 2smoke swap. Is a budget build seeing hows I'm laidoff from work. When my 468 falicon finally took a crap I got tired of seeing it just sitin in my garage. I sold the blown dale motor for $500 and bought a complete 94 ktm 440 for $800. I removed the motor and parted out the rest to recop the extra $300. So basically got a no cost powerplant. The ktm stock is claimed 59HP. I've added a fmf fatty/silencer, boyesen rad valve, and all new clutch. I'm very pleased with the way she runs. I know it may not be the most popular thing on this forum, but wanted to know what you guys think.

Nice swap. I like my Dale, but there are definitely times I miss having a two stroke. I love the smell of Benoil in the morning.

Nice job, I'm actually working on my project CR500 swap.
I have to deal with making clearance for the carb and changing swinarm geometry.
I have 2 swing arms I toying with, TRX450 and CR250, the TRX needs the main pivot changed to go narrowerand except the 17mm pivot bolt, the CR fits in with just a 0.155" spacer but unless I want to make it a 3 wheeler I need to graft on the bearing carrier.
Still along ways off from riding but I still have a couple machines to keep me going biggrin.gif

I know what you mean about making ckearence space for the carb, I had to cut the cross member that the top of the rear shock mounts to and lower itby about 3inches,
this has lowered the rear of the bike and I now use a rear shock from a ducati 999 that's been revalved and sprung to my weight.
As this is a road legal race bike it won't have to deal with jumps or any thing bigger than a speed bump, this set up allows me to run a kehin air striker with a K&N filter (without air box)
it fits nice and clears the seat pan and the top of the new strut location.
The rear mount of the motor fits just like stock dale
new billet front mounts had to be made to secure front of motor.

Sorry to bore ya everyone ;0)

Thanks guys,I dont have any other pics right now.Im going to try and get some video of it soon. The rear cross member was a little bit of a problem.I had to drill a hole in it for the throttle cable to run through. It is pretty tight back there trying to wedge my k&n filter on.Id love to see some other pics of your guys swaps.Post em up.

I like any swap with a 2 stroke thats over 250cc. To me anything less than that isn't worth it. Now the 500's that actually gets me excited since I know the power that can be had very easily from them. Heck even stock they all were deadly in a dirtbike! Will be watching this thread with anticipation. Cobbler that is awesome looking and I bet it rips. Look at the size of that cylinder! Great job! But do you know how rare a Glamis is? Might want to consider trading someone your plastic and the frame.I bet you could make some $ if its a true Glamis.
