I JUST bought my first connondale! It is a moto 440 with a 496 big bore. It has a really high idle. Is this normal when u first fire them up? How can I remap the ecu?

You can locate the idle adjusting screw on the left side of the throttle body, and turn that down by ear, to just above any stumbling -- after warm of course.

If the IACV (electric choke) is working OK, you will indeed have a faster idle when cold, and the idle will notch down as it warms up.

About that 2100 Cannondale idle speed?...well, we should all forget about that!, and particularly on a 496 that should already have the fuel fittings gutted out -- at the very least.

From the factory, all cDales have stock valved fittings that flow the equivalent of a pump-starving 1/16" diameter -- that's probably enough for a CARBED Harley, but the stock setup is truly pump-killing for a Cannondale with our return-based EFI.
Cannondale HAD to spin the idle speed up to 2100, just to keep them from stalling out.....there is no other magic about that 2100 or 2200 rpm idle. I've set several machines by now at 1700 to 1900 idle, and they all do fine with a same given map-- but those machines have high-flow plumbing (and with the perfect stock pump fyi). As flow restriction is reduced, the idle speed can certainly come down -- it's well proven by now.

If you do not have a D&M Kit, just set the hot idle to where it does not stumble, and does not stall when shifting between gears.... and whenever you nail the throttle from idle?,...it should just launch without hesitation -- good to go. A D&M Kit is great to have yes, and I have them in stock at the same good deal for the last 5 years... but for merely setting idle, that is usually best done by tweaking by ear to wherever a particular machine needs -- then you can READ what that is from the D&M.

But if it's a 496 with stock plumbing?.....don't even ride it yet!.....the pump will be cavitating as usual, and it could run too lean in the mid and upper rpms, for rapid motor wear,...and regardless of the idle setting or map. In that case,...do the plumbing first, and the programming second -- as would be necessary for any stock Cannondale IMO.

As for the map itself, somebody would have already put a custom map in it for that displacement (Timbomoose?), and I would
suggest consulting with him on that.

Yep I have, on the road with me. Just email any list, or call.
For 1/4 or 5/16, and 90 or 135 bends.

My fuel system looks identical to the one pictured so that's a plus. I figured out the idle. I turned it down a hair to much then adjusted it to run like a champ. Thanks for all of the advice!
